Prototype history:
This kit is all based on the prototype (formerly in San Gabriel, Calif. on Ward Kimball's Grizzly Flats Railroad backyard 1:1 railroad) that was originally constructed from a Victorian design of the c.1890 Lehigh Valley Railroad's "Pottsville Branch" flag depot.
It was built by Disney's movie construction crew as a 1950's movie set structure / prop (with no rear wall!) for Disney's "So Dear To My Heart" movie. It was then moved to Disney illustrator Ward Kimball's ranch / backyard narrow gauge railroad instead of being torn down after the movie was filmed.
A variation on the design is also currently found at the New Orleans Square Depot area in Disneyland, Anaheim, Calif. The prototype was (2025) to be found on the Justi Creek Railway in Glen Ellen, Calif., a narrow gauge private railroad owned by John Lasseter of Pixar/Disney animation fame.
